The Gropers have a proud history as part of the South West Rugby Union. Formed in the late 1980's, they were originally the Leeuwin Gropers and used to travel the width of the South West with games as far as Albany, Katanning, and Narrogin as part of the regular season.
Whilst other teams might have a strong, consistent, player base, the Gropers rely heavily on a core local group of players and players who come to the region for work or pleasure. We welcome any interested people from all backgrounds - and this flexibility and adaptability has made our team regular holders of the South West trophy!

One of the first breweries to open on Western Australia’s wild coastline, the Colonial Brewing Co tapped its first keg in 2004. It was the first step in an incredible journey, and guided by some of Australia’s most talented and passionate brewers, we opened our first East Coast brewery in Port Melbourne in 2015.
But even as we grow, we still do things the exact same way we do them in the Margaret River. We do them uncomplicated. That’s why our hand-crafted beer actually tastes like beer should. It’s why our ciders use only cold-pressed Australian apples. Ridgeback Biltong’s Owner, Les du Plooy, learnt the secrets of making exceptional Biltong at an early age from his Father & Grandfather in former Rhodesia; before immigrating to Australia with his family in 1979.
For the next 35 years making his delicious Biltong for family and friends, was a mere hobby. His decision to commercialise his hobby was made following the purchase of a General Store in the South West of WA, with his wife Pya in 2011. And so Ridgeback® Biltong was born.
The prodigious demand for our all natural and preservative free Biltong, made to a secret family recipe, required the expansion of our processing facility. Our new HACCP approved processing factory utilizes state of the art equipment and packaging systems and ensures our customers get the very best Biltong, confidently and consistently. With a strong commitment to supporting our locals, our MSA Beef is sourced from beef producers in the South West.
Having the Ridgeback® Biltong factory next door to the Post Office, facilitates the logistics of getting our product to you quickly via Parcel Post or Express Post. In most cases delivery is within 3 days and in some cases, overnight.
